How do Car Accident injury claims work?

  1. Contact your car insurance.
If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident, you should notify your car insurance company as soon as possible, regardless of who was at fault. This also applies if you were a passenger or pedestrian in a car that was involved in an accident. So make sure to contact your own car insurance provider (if you have one). Your adjustor will let you know whose insurance your claim will go through. Once you have contacted an adjustor, a motor vehicle accident injury claim will be created and our team at Brentwood Physio will handle everything else.

Motor vehicle accident injury claims can be confusing and frustrating to deal with. That’s why, at our clinic, we work closely with you to ensure that you receive the treatment you need and the compensation you deserve. During your first visit, an experienced Registered Physiotherapist will spend one hour examining your injuries and develop a treatment plan unique to you. We will also help you fill out the necessary paperwork and submit your claim to your insurance company on your behalf. Click here to book an appointment.
  3. Follow-up treatments.

Will I have to pay for my MVA Physiotherapy in Calgary?

The short answer is no, but it depends on what type of MVA claim you qualify under.

Motor vehicle accident injury claims are those that arise when someone is injured in a motor vehicle accident. There are two types of MVA claims, the first is called In-protocol. All claims that have been filed within the first 90 days of the accident are considered In-protocol. All appointments labeled In-protocol are billed to the car insurance, you won’t pay a dime!

Once you have surpassed the 90-day mark, your status changes to an out-of-protocol claim. During this time, if you have any private health insurance, you are legally required to exhaust these benefits first, the remainder will be covered by your car insurance. If you do not have any private health insurance or your benefits have been exhausted then all fees will be covered by your car insurance until two years after the date of the accident.

After two years have passed you still are considered an out-of-protocol claim and you definitely can still come in for physiotherapy. We will often bill your auto insurance, but the process will be unique to each individual.
