Acupuncture | Dry Needling & Intramuscular Stimulation

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a dry needling technique that is a type of acupuncture used to help control pain, increase range of motion, improve strength and stimulate circulation. It works by targeting tightened bands of muscles, called myofascial (trigger points), that cause chronic pain and painful conditions.

Your body is in an optimal state when your nerves and muscles work in cooperation. When nerves become inflamed or damaged, the muscles around those nerves become tight and sore. This is part of a condition referred to as neuropathic pain. By utilizing acupuncture needles, a physiotherapist can properly address these issues. IMS Calgary treatments are used to treat neuropathic pain arising from trauma. It aims to relieve muscles that are exerting pressure on your already irritated nerves. At Brentwood Physiotherapy, we have seen remarkable overall improvement in our IMS physio patients. The majority of which experience pain relief after just one treatment.
